If you’re just getting started working from home, you might be at loss on work at home jobs or services that you could do, or what products you might sell for profit. There’s a load of possibilities. This post will list just a few ideas that might be just what you’re looking for. A tip – do something that you’re truly interested in doing, something that you like and enjoy.
Crafts – If you enjoy making things, crafting could be right up your alley. There’s no limit to things you could make and sell – jewelry, greeting cards, paintings, pottery, etc. People love handcrafted products. Promote handmade items as designer items and you can often sell for a higher price just because you use the term *designer* in your product descriptions.
Adult Coloring Books – Even if you can’t draw, you can put together adult coloring books and sell them on Amazon. Adult coloring books are all the rage right now and there doesn’t seem to be an end in sight! Buyers will purchase coloring books and then color them. Once a book is finished, they’ll be back looking for more. If you can draw, even better! Self-publish with CreateSpace and it won’t cost you anything to get published.
Sewing – This kind of falls into the crafts category, depending on what you decide to sew. You could make quilts, dog clothes, baby items, pillows, etc.
Design T-Shirts – This one is a real money maker! T-shirts sell like crazy, even ones with just plain text on them. It’s amazing how many people buy t-shirts.
Write Books – If you enjoy writing, you can make money with your words by selling on Kindle and in print on Amazon. For fiction, you really want to create a series of books as they often sell better. For non-fiction, write books on things you know about – recipes, homemaking, time management, getting organized, parenting, homeschooling, etc. Self-publish on Kindle and CreateSpace for print and it won’t cost you anything to get published.
Buy and Resell Domain Names – Premium domain names can bring in some nice cash. If you buy a domain name for say $15, you can resell it for at a minimum of $30, but often much more. A good rule to start for a fast turn over is to set the price at $69. That’s a $54 profit per domain name. You’ll make less profit but more sales. You can set prices for some domains much higher and see if you get sales. Be sure when buying a domain name to resell that the spelling is correct. Also in general, don’t buy domain names longer than 16 or 18 characters. Try to stick with .com extensions as they usually sell better. A one word domain with another extension might sell quick, however. I’ve sold domain names for as little as $25 (spent only $1 to buy it) and as much as $3000 (spent less than $10 to buy).
Fix Computers – If you’re computer tech savvy, fixing computers could be for you. With so many people today owning computers and so few knowing how to maintain them (like cleaning out cookies, defragging, removing malware and Trojans, etc., you could easily make money cleaning up their systems. Some people’s computers crash simply because the person doesn’t keep their computer cleaned up. Their lack of knowledge can be your work at home business. Back in 1997, I had my first computer and somehow accidently deleted Word off of it. I was without Word for a year or longer because I had no clue that all I had to do was reinstall it. Sad but true. 🙂
Virtual Assistant – If you have secretarial type skills, you might enjoy being a virtual assistant. A VA can be hired to do just about any type of work online – writing, updating blogs, paying affiliates, graphic design work, updating WordPress, designing book covers, creating content, accounting, bookkeeping, posting on social media sites, and tons more.
These are just a few work from home ideas. I’ll be expanding on these in future blog posts and adding more ideas for making money online and at home.
